Department of Data Medicine

The Department of Data Medicine (ODM) brings together clinical medicine, biomedical engineering and data analytics. It creates a collaborative environment in which research questions arising from clinical practice are addressed by a multidisciplinary team – from the acquisition and processing of physiological data through to their statistical analysis and the application of machine learning and artificial intelligence methods.

ODM’s key project is PhysioConnect.cz, under which the department is building an infrastructure for the multicentre collection and further use of high-frequency data from intensive care. This involves not only technical solutions but also the establishment of organisational processes, data security, and the ethical and legal framework for the use of clinical data in research.

At the same time, ODM is developing methods for processing and evaluating the quality of physiological data, including the automatic detection of artefacts and anomalies, and provides data and analytical support to other clinical and experimental research projects.
