Department of Clinical Microbiology (OKM)

The department provides laboratory services to clinical departments of the hospital and to extramural clientele in the region of Prague and Central Bohemia.

Performs direct detection of causative agents of bacterial, parasitic, mycotic, mycobacterial and viral diseases. In addition to standard bacteriological culture methods, modern molecular biological diagnostic procedures, automated culture systems (hemoculture, TB testing) and rapid antigen detection are used. It prepares the basis for targeted and rational antibacterial therapy. In accordance with the AMS (Antimicrobial Stewardship) programme, the Antibiotic Centre is responsible for consulting and consultive activities in the field of antibiotherapy and monitoring the resistance status of microorganisms to chemotherapeutic agents in individual departments of the hospital.

The department provides advisory and consultation services to doctors and healthcare professionals on the optimal methods for collecting samples for testing.

In the bacteriology department, we offer the preparation of oral and parenteral autovaccines.
