Centre for Congenital Infections and Infections in Pregnancy
The Centre offers care in the following areas:
- dispensary care of pediatric patients with diagnosed congenital/perinatal infections
- comprehensive outpatient care for pregnant patients with transplacentally transmitted infections
- consiliary activities in issues of congenital infections and infections in pregnancy
Neonatology and pediatric departments offer consultation for suspected congenital infections. In case of a confirmed diagnosis, we participate in the management of treatment, in cooperation with Neonatology Department of FNB, hospitalization of these patients is also possible.
We provide dispensary care for pediatric patients in the first years of life for the Prague and Central Bohemia region, according to capacity.
Ambulatory examination and follow-up of pregnant patients with suspected transplacentally transmitted infection (so-called TORCH infection), including recommendations for the course of delivery and subsequent examination of the newborn. We also offer additional care in the area of vaccination - both pregnant and children with congenital infection, at the Vaccination Centre of the FNB.
Consultation is offered throughout the country. We do not provide antenatal screening, but we help with interpretation of the results and consult on further action. The center is consistently available to all physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of congenital diseases and infections in pregnancy.
